Day 7 ~ 21 Days of Prayer

Adam Dorband, Student Pastor, shared a terrific devotion this morning.  Join us in prayer for the following prayer points:

Amos 5:21-24- msg

21-24“I can’t stand your religious meetings.

I’m fed up with your conferences and conventions.

I want nothing to do with your religion projects,

your pretentious slogans and goals.

I’m sick of your fund-raising schemes,

your public relations and image making.

I’ve had all I can take of your noisy ego-music.

When was the last time you sang to me?

Do you know what I want?

I want justice—oceans of it.

I want fairness—rivers of it.

That’s what I want. That’s all I want.

God says, I want Justice, oceans of Justice- NOT church services, camps, small groups, prayers, not songs…. Justice!

Everybody say this: “Oceans of Justice”

OCEANS are HUGE!!  Oceans means he wants lots of it!!!  Not just for one day or one week!  He wants our lives to live this!!

This tells me that God is more pleased with our acts of justice than almost anything!

Today as we continue to seek God in prayer, lets remember that God wants our prayer to compel us towards justice!

Luke 4:18-19 (NLT)

18 “The Spirit of the Lord is upon me,

for he has anointed me to bring Good News to the poor.

He has sent me to proclaim that captives will be released,

that the blind will see, that the oppressed will be set free,

19 and that the time of the Lord’s favor has come.”

We become like that which we behold! As we behold God in prayer we will become more and more like him.  The things that he cares about will begin to become the things we care about.  The things he hates will become the things we hate.  The people he cares about will become the people we care about!

One of the reasons we spend time in prayer, with our heavenly father is so that we will become like him!

As we become like him we become people not just of prayer but also of action!

Spending time in prayer should change my life out there

Urban outreach– serves the homeless in Denver (story of our team who serves there each month)

Sox place – Serves the homeless teens & young adults in Denver through authentic relationships

(Story of taking zion there)

Shiloh House – Cares for kids in need, kids whose parents are struggling to the level that they cannot care for their kids.  (story of house we worked on this summer)
